DR. JULIAN BROWN
GP AND FORMER REGIONAL PRESCRIBING LEAD
Dr. Julian Brown is a General Practitioner in West Norfolk and founder of Eclipse Solutions. His web-based systems are now protecting more than 13 million patients.
He has been a GP for 26 years and has had a special interest in diabetes since 2006. He was the GP Prescribing Lead for Norfolk from 2008-2013 and the Long Term Conditions Lead for West Norfolk CCG from 2013-2015. He is considered one of the leading experts on admission avoidance systems and is researching the improvement of outcomes through automated patient feedback, best practice identification and patient self-management plans.
He is passionate about optimising health economics through IT and the utilisation of population health management.

Carol Roberts is Director of Strategic Prescribing at Eastern Academic Health Science Network (EAHSN).
Carol Roberts is the lead pharmacist for the East of England Strategic Health Authority having been the Head of Medicines Management at both West Essex PCT and then Waltham Forest PCT. She is passionate about medicines management and has introduced many innovative schemes to enhance medicines management in the East of England.

Lesley Gant has been a qualified pharmacist for 30 years with experience in hospital, community, academia and for the last 16 years Primary care starting as a Prescribing Advisor through to Medicines Governance and Safety role to Head of Prescribing since 2011.
PROFESSOR GERRY RAYMAN
CONSULTANT DIABETOLOGIST AND NATIONAL GIRFT LEAD
Gerry Rayman is a Consultant Physician at the Diabetes Centre, Ipswich Hospitals NHS Trust, Hon Professor at UEA, Visiting Professor at the University of Suffolk and Associate Lecturer at Cambridge University. He is the STP lead for diabetes in Suffolk and NE Essex.
He led NHSDiabetes initiative on inpatient diabetes care and innovated the National Diabetes Inpatient Audit for which he is the Clinical lead. He is DiabetesUK’s Clinical lead for inpatient care and co-authored ‘Making Hospitals Safe for People with Diabetes’. He contributed to NCEPOD’s ‘Highs and Lows’ report on Perioperative Diabetes Care and is DiabetesUK’s Clinical lead on the Centre for Perioperative Care initiative on diabetes care.
He was NHS Diabetes lead for foot disease and Clinical lead for Diabetes UK’s ‘Putting Feet First’ campaign. He contributed to all NICE Guidelines on Diabetic Foot Disease (CG10, CG119 NG 19) and the NCEPOD recommendations on lower limb amputations.
He is past President of the Endocrine and Diabetes Section of the Royal Society of Medicine and Chair of DiabetesUK’s Clinical Study Group into research in Acute Diabetes Care.
He has been recently appointed Diabetes Co-lead for the ‘Getting it Right First Time’ programme which is presently focused on improving the care of those with diabetic foot disease, those with type 1 diabetes and those with diabetes admitted to hospital.
PROFESSOR DAVID WRIGHT
PROFESSOR OF PHARMACY PRACTICE, UNIVERSITY OF EAST ANGLIA
David graduated in 1991 from the University of Bradford and was a practising community pharmacist until July 2017. In 1998, David completed his PhD on the value of providing clinical pharmacy services to care homes and became a full time lecturer in pharmacy practice. David moved to the University of East Anglia as one of the founding members of staff who set up the first new school of pharmacy in the UK for over 30 years in 2003.
David is a health services researcher with an interest in medicines optimisation in the older person. He is currently leading a five-year program of research to determine the value of placing prescribing pharmacists into care home teams to help them to provide better medicines related care for residents.
PROFESSOR YOON K LOKE
SENIOR LECTURER, CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY, UNIVERSITY OF EAST ANGLIA
Dr. Yoon K Loke is Professor of Medicine and Pharmacology at the University of East Anglia, and Convenor of the Cochrane Adverse Effects Methods Group. He has extensive experience in conducting systematic reviews of adverse effects and is the lead author of Chapter 19 in the Cochrane Handbook of Systematic Reviews. His current work is focused on pharmacoepidemiological data and best methods of evaluating harmful effects of healthcare interventions.
Dr. Loke is Chair of the Joint Speciality Committee for Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics, Royal College of Physicians London, and also Regional Speciality Advisor for the Eastern Region.
DAVID ALLEN
HEAD OF OPERATIONS, EAST OF ENGLAND AMBULANCE SERVICE NHS TRUST
David Allen is a Paramedic qualified in Resuscitation Council (UK) Advanced Life Support and European Paediatric Life Support and is a Head of Operations for the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust. He has been a Paramedic for 10 years and worked in various roles at an operational, tactical and strategic level. He has recently completed a Postgraduate Certificate and Masters Degree in Healthcare Leadership. He has a keen interest in Quality Improvement and is a member of the ACT Academy faculty with NHS Improvement. He has implemented various successful change programmes within healthcare systems resulting in an improved staff and patient experience whilst delivering efficiency and financial savings.
David is currently seconded to work with Prescribing Services Ltd on the implementation of the Connected Care Record within ambulance services, enabling the recommendations within the NHS Long Term Plan and Carter Report to effectively and efficiently bring care closer to home.
STEVEN PLATT
ADVICE & GUIDANCE (ECLIPSE LIVE) IT LEAD
Steven has headed up our IT team for the past 11 years. He ensures our high security data centre provides efficient access for our 15000 end users. His team provide ordering systems for over 700 hospitals, 7000 independent pharmacists and 1000 Dispensing Practices. Over a billion pounds of NHS orders are taken each year through our interfaces.

ADVICE & GUIDANCE (ECLIPSE LIVE) OPERATIONS LEAD
Julian worked for 14 years with Astra Zeneca within a variety of roles culminating as Commercial and Supply Chain Manager for the UK Marketing Company. He was the Commercial Operations Director for Proteus Digital Health between 2011 and 2015. He has been part of the Prescribing Services Ltd team since 2015 and supports many aspects of the organisation including partnering and operations.
PROFESSOR SIR MIKE RICHARDS
CHAIR, ADULT SCREENING PROGRAMMES IN ENGLAND
Professor Sir Mike Richards was a hospital physician for more than 20 years. After a variety of training posts he was a consultant medical oncologist between 1986 and 1995, and Professor of Palliative Medicine at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospitals between 1995 and 1999.
In 1999 Sir Mike was appointed as the first National Cancer Director at the Department of Health. In 2007, his role was extended to include end of life care. He led the development and implementation of the NHS Cancer Plan in 2000, the Cancer Reform Strategy in 2008 and Improving Outcomes: A strategy for cancer in 2011.
In July 2012 he was appointed as Director for Reducing Premature Mortality on the NHS Commissioning Board (now NHS England). In this role he led the development of a cardiovascular outcomes strategy.
He became CQC’s first Chief Inspector of Hospitals in July 2013 and led the development and implementation of a new approach to hospital inspection which assessed services on whether they are safe, caring, effective, responsive and well-led. Sir Mike retired from this role at the end of July 2017.
Sir Mike was awarded a CBE in 2001 and appointed a Knight Bachelor in 2010. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists, the Royal College of Pathologists and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Emma is an Information Governance Consultant that has worked with public sector and private organisations for over 10 years. She is a Data Protection and Freedom of Information practitioner with a passion for integration and information rights. Currently completing her information law masters with a focus on the privacy impacts of artificial intelligence in public sector decision making.
KATHRYN BUCHANAN
DEPUTY HEAD OF MEDICINES OPTIMISATION SWINDON CCG
Pharmacist for many years (too many to mention), and after an initial baptism of fire on the John Radcliffe residency programme (prepares you for anything!) most of my working life has been spent in various guises in primary care (PCG, PCT, CCG, CSU and then back to CCG). I have my independent prescriber qualification although not actively using at the moment and am part of the NICE Medicines and Prescribing Associate Programme. I spend a significant chunk of my time currently managing our POD service and am passionate about using POD to enhance patient care and implement our meds optimisation strategy, and although I also have particular clinical interests in diabetes and cardiology, I am not professing to be an expert in any field! I am nothing without the fantastic team that I have the absolute pleasure to be a part of.
PAULA WILKINSON
CHIEF PHARMACISTS MID ESSEX CCG
Paula is a pharmacist with over 30 years’ experience in a wide range of healthcare settings, including acute hospitals, mental health, learning difficulties, community health services, primary care including GP practice and community pharmacy, social care, pre-hospital and secure environments including prisons, police custody and SARCs. Paula has been pharmaceutical adviser to both West Midlands and East of England Ambulance Trusts and is currently Chief Pharmacist for Mid Essex Clinical Commissioning Group and G4S Health Services Ltd. As well as Medicines Optimisation, Paula’s responsibilities include development and review of Value Based Commissioning Policies and managing the Central Referral Service team of clinical triagers and administrative staff. Paula’s wide clinical experience, together with her knowledge of budget management, contracting, commissioning, activity data and billing processes, means that she is asked to provide input into a wide range of CCG projects.
MICHAEL DENNIS
HEAD OF MEDICINES OPTIMISATION GREAT YARMOUTH CCG
Michael is Head of Medicines Optimisation at NHS Great Yarmouth and Waveney CCG. He leads the regional team in delivering prescribing safety and reducing inefficiency. He is an active user of both risk stratification and prescribing support systems, acting as a development advisor to the Prescribing Services team.
